Station Tab
The station tab presents the basic information of the station (location, number of years used, quality of data, etc).
Climate Analytics Data
When the "Climate Analytics Data" option is set on the main page, the Station tab simply contains summary statistics for the station as shown in the screenshot below.
Station Statistics
-
Latitude: the latitude of the station in ° North of the equator. Degree minutes are represented in decimal (i.e. 30 minutes is .5).
-
Longitude: is the longitude of the station in ° East of the Greenwich median. Degree minutes are represented in decimal (i.e. 30 minutes is .5).
-
WMO: a 5-digit numeric code used by the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) to identify a land weather station. The first two digits are referred to as the "block number" and refer to the geographic area (00-29 Europe, 30-59 Asia, 60-68 Africa, 69 special use, 70-79 North America, 80-89 South America, 90-99 Oceania).
-
NOAA: TRUE if the station is from the NOAA dataset, otherwise FALSE.
-
Elevation: the elevation of the station above sea level in m.
-
Data: The period expressed as a year range for which at least 80% of measured data is available for the station.
-
USAF: USAF (US Air Force) station number.
-
WBAN: a 5-digit station identifier used at NCEI (National Centers for Environmental Information) for digital data storage and general station identification purposes. It is an acronym, invented in the 1950's, which stands for Weather-Bureau-Army-Navy. WBAN identifiers are officially assigned and managed at NCEI.
-
Years: Number of years for which more than 80% of measured data is available for the station.
-
A Years: the number of years for which >= 90% of measured data is available.
-
B Years: the number of years for which >= 80%, < 90% of measured data is available.
-
C Years: the number of years for which <80% of measured data is available.
-
Av Temp: Average temperature in °C and °F since 1970.
-
Max Temp: Maximum temperature in °C and °F since 1970.
-
Min Temp: Minimum temperature in °C and °F since 1970.
-
Avg Wind: Average wind speed in m/s and knots since 1970.
Where measured data for the specific station is not available the gap is filled with gridded data.

Create New Location
When the "Create New Location" option is checked on the main page the Station dialog is opened to allow you to create a new virtual weather station by triangulating between existing stations. Detailed information on that option and how to use it can be found on the Create New Location page.
